More About Carol LeDoux
Scott and Carol LeDoux are well known in Anoka County. Scott is a Minnesota native. He was raised in Crosby, MN, growing up hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He attended the University of Minnesota at Duluth after being heavily recruited to play football. It was there that he started to box. He completed his amateur boxing career having won the Upper Midwest Championship twice. He was married to Sandy in 1969 and they had two children, Josh and Molly. Sandy passed away after a long battle with cancer when the children were young. During that time, Scott fought for the heavy weight championship twice and brought both events to Minnesota. He is the only fighter in the world to have been in the ring with 11 world champions. He served on the Minnesota boxing commission for 18 years after retiring from the sport and was a boxing commentator for ESPN for 5 years. Recently, he was named Executive Director of the Minnesota Boxing Commission after leading the effort to have t he boxing commission re-instated after Governor Ventura disbanded it. This effort was to bring safety and integrity to the sport while generating the revenue that comes with major sporting events.
While many of you may know him from his professional sports career, some of you may recognize him from his dedication to charity work in Minnesota and other states. Scott has been a spokesperson for Make a Wish, and both he and Carol now actively involved with Wishes and More. Both are groups specializing in working with families that have a child facing a life threatening illness. Many organizations and foundations count on Scott to support their funding raising efforts.
Carol is a native Midwesterner coming to Minnesota in 1995. She had a 12 year career in the eyecare field in sales, consulting, and education. As a national lecturer, she was invited to speak on current topics relating to eyecare and developed numerous continuing education classes f or both support staff and professionals. She met Scott in 1996 and they were married later that same year. Carol is an educator at heart and treats her opportunities with her clients to help them learn about the home buying and selling process. She says, "Most clients are in uncharted waters when it comes to a real estate transaction. More often than not, it is something that most families do only a few times over the course of their lives. I feel that it is very important to have transparency in all of my actions for my clients. I want them to know what I do for them and their understanding the process is key. While many real estate agents are good, I know that none work harder for their clients best interest." Her educational background is in Fine Arts and Business Management. Carol is active in the worship ministry at their church and taught piano until recently. She has one daughter residing in Atlanta.
They are very active in the Anoka County area. Scott recently chaired the development committee to explore the feasibility of building a multi-purpose community center. Now a reality, it houses our Andover Community Center and the new YMCA. Scott chaired the YMCA board. through 2006. In 2004, he was elected to the position of Anoka County Commissioner. Carol was his campaign chair. Together they walked and talked to over 5,000 homes in his district. His campaign platform was focused on developing better roads for Anoka County, helping the Northstar Commuter Rail become a reality, and continue to explore the possibility of the Vikings locating in Anoka County. The results so far:
- Funding at the Federal level has been secured for the Northstar project
- State funding has been approved for Northstar
- Anoka County is working hard to begin the Hanson interchange and road widening projectwhich will reduce commute times for residents living in Anover and north
- Highway 242 and 65 interchange is progressing
- Scott was instrumental in helping obtain a harness track facility in Columbus Township if the Indian Casino Lobbies stop funding the opposition
- Scott chairs the Publice Saftey Commitee and is actively involved in Meth prevention programs at the middle school level
